After an incredible year the 1993 All–Ireland provided their first historic win for the men from Derry. 

Cork got the perfect start with Joe Kavanagh scoring a point and hammering a goal into the Derry net. Derry responded with grit and determination leading at the break 1-9 to 1-6.

Cork took the lead ten minutes into the second half in a closely fought thriller but the Derry hunger was not letting this one slip away and proudly they claimed their place in history.
