Classic style jersey. 100% cotton.
The Polo Grounds in New York used for baseball and much smaller than the usual Gaelic pitch was the unusual venue for the ’47 final in a gesture by the GAA to mark the anniversary of the great famine.
The ground was rock hard and it was stifling hot. Kerry got a terrific start and Batt Garvey went on a dazzling solo run before crashing the ball into the Cavan net.
Cavan came thundering back with goals from Joe Stafford and Mick Higgins and led at the break 2-5 to 2-4. The heat and hard ground seemed to affect Kerry more as Cavan battled to the end for a hard fought win.
