The 1979 All Ireland final pitted Kerry against Dublin for the fourth time in five years but unlike previous finals between the teams this one was all too easy for Kerry.

Dublin tried their best and rallied after the break having trailed by 1-7 to 0-3 at half time but the power football of the team most reckon to be the greatest ever to play the game, helped them finish comfortable winners with goals from John Egan and 2 from Mikey Sheedy, who equalled Jimmy Keaveneys scoring record of 2-6 in a final.
